Hello everyone. My name is MaryKate Martin. I’m currently a super senior with an associates in Pre-Nursing Qualifications, and working towards my BS for Physics. I’m a military kid so it’s difficult to say exactly where I’m from but I’ve spent the majority of my adult life living in Alaska. My hobbies include anything crafty, kinda like a moth to a flame, I’m drawn to do it yourself crafts. I paint, crochet, have wielded a knitting needle (none too successfully though), and in the process of trying to get my hands on a drill.
My experience with Physics teachers in the past including high school and college are night and day. I couldn’t imagine even pursue a career in teaching Physics if I hadn’t taken a college class, because it was so dry. So my vision of my teaching career would be filled with demonstrations and hands-on activities more than just the mouse-car kit. I’d love to reset how kids think about science and the world around them and prove that it’s not drier than a stale Rice Krispy treat.
