Hello from Southeast!

Hey there! My name is Jessica Twydell. My bachelor’s is in biology with a minor in chem. I grew up in northern Ohio and went to college at Eastern Michigan University. I am a die-hard Browns fan and am stoked about the Indian’s 21 game streak! Traveling and hiking are among my favorite past times; preferably together with a drink for once I hit the summit.

I moved to Sitka after college. It was kind of a stab in the dark but ended up being the best decision of my life. I was hoping to come to Sitka and get involved in the science field one way or another. I ended up serving at Mt. Edgecumbe High School as an AmeriCorps volunteer. Four years later and I’ve worked in many different capacities at the school and am currently employed as a contracted teacher. Life is good to say the least. I teach life skills classes (Study Skills and Peer Mentoring) and am co-teaching Integrated Science 1. I also help out in the dorms by running small group interventions for students at high academic risk at night.

Life is GOOD! Stoked to learn more and continue my journey of personal and professional growth.
