My name is Ben Widman. I have grown up in Alaska all my life. I was born and raised in Soldotna, Alaska with my brother and two sisters. After graduating from high school in 2008, I came up to UAF. This semester I finally will be graduating with my BA in History and a minor in English. These are two subjects I have always had a passion for in school and I am looking forward to teach these subjects after I am certified. This is the reason I am taking this class. I plan to work on my Teaching Certificate for Secondary Education as part of my Masters in Education. Besides school, I have been married for a little over a year. My wife and I just found out that she is pregnant and due in August! It has been exciting to start planning for our new addition to the family. My hobbies usually include reading Science Fiction/Fantasy as well as history. I also love playing the drums (usually for my church). I play strategy board games, build models, and write on occasion. Both my wife and I enjoy traveling but school has made that a near impossibility. However, we plan one day to make our next trip to Scotland.
